Community stations to air a 10-part series about new music
3MBS Fine Music Melbourne has teamed up with community radio stations around Australia to create a 10-part radio series focusing on the diverse contemporary classical music scenes across the country. Episodes of National Contemporary Landscapes feature exclusive recordings created for the series, interviews with musicians and composers, and valuable local insights. One of the episodes, produced by 3 Kool N Deadly Melbourne, is dedicated to Indigenous musicians.
Participating stations are: 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne, 3KND Indigenous Radio Melbourne, 4MBS Brisbane, Edge Radio Hobart, 5MBS Adelaide, RTRFM Perth, Fine Music Digital Sydney, 8CCC Alice Springs & Tenant Creek, and Artsound Canberra.
Artists and ensembles featured over the series include William Barton, Deborah Cheetham, Tamara Anna Cislowska, Elena Kats-Chernin, David Chisholm, Tim Dargaville, Gordon Kerry, Linda Kouvaras, James Nightingale, Stephen Whittington, Kupka's Piano, Topology, ARCKO Symphonic Ensemble and ELISION Ensemble.
The one-hour episodes of National Contemporary Landscapes air from 1 September 2014, and can be heard on participating stations, online and on the Community Radio Network.
