ISCM World New Music Days 2023: Australian Section selections
The ISCM Australian Section's official submission to the 2023 World New Music Days has been selected.
As the Australian Section to the ISCM, the AMC have selected six works across six categories to represent Australian music:
- Medium Chamber Ensemble
Angus Davison: Nigel (2021)
- String Quartet
Benjamin Carey: ...and to contribute to each other's support (2021)
- Duo
Cat Hope: Their Lives are Stripped of Meaning (2018)
- Solo
Dominic Flynn: Gorge (2021)
- SATB Choir
Meta Cohen: We (2022)
- Symphony Orchestra
Deborah Cheetham Fraillon OAM: Ghost Light (2021)
These pieces were selected from an outstanding pool of 46
submissions across 10 categories. We congratulate the selected
creators and thank all who submitted works for consideration.
The ISCM festival will now consider which works it will program for presentation at the World New Music Days festival, taking place in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa, 24 November to 3 December. At least one work from each official section submission are guaranteed a performance. The AMC will publicise the announcement of the festival program in due course.
Individual submissions to the ISCM World New Music Days can still be submitted until 11:59pm CET on 24 March 2023. An entry fee of €53.50 applies at the time of submission. More info.
