Kate Moore - premieres and new releases
Kate Moore's new Cello Concerto (2014) for solo cello, amplified ensemble and sound machines has just received its world premiere in Utrecht, the Netherlands, by the ASKO/Schönberg ensemble. The new work, performed as part of the 2014 Gaudeamus Music Week (10-14 September) is an adaptation of an earlier work, Days and Nature, premiered by Asko/Schönberg in 2012. A recording of the concerto with the ensemble is in the making, conducted by Christian Karlsen and with Ashley Bathgate as soloist.
Another forthcoming CD of Moore's music will be launched in October by the ECM record label. Dances & Canons is a collection of piano works, performed by Saskia Lankhoorn.
Later in 2014, Moore will be featured composer at the November Music festival in 's-Hertogenbosch. Works programmed include Days and Nature (Philharmonie Zuidnederland, 6 November) and Dances and Canons (Saskia Lankhoorn, 8 November).
Recent premieres of Moore's music also include Heather for violin and piano, performed by Anna McMichael and Zubin Kanga as part of the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music on 7 September, and a new harmonium work Song of Songs, premiered in the Netherlands by Dirk Lujimes.
