Opportunity: Prelude composer residencies 2020
Applications are now open for Prelude composer residencies in three Australian cities - Adelaide, Perth and Sydney - in 2020. The aim of the program is to provide long-term residencies (12 months in Sydney and Perth, 9 months in Adelaide) allowing composers to focus on their craft while residing in one of three heritage listed Australian homes. The successful applicants are provided with a stipend of $15,000 (for 12 months, scaled proportionally for shorter residencies) to cover living costs and travel. In 2020, the houses are: Peggy Glanville-Hicks House, Paddington NSW; Gallop House, Dalkeith WA; Beaumont Cottage, Beaumont SA.
The program is open to composers from any genre and at any stage of their career. Note that applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, and members of APRA AMCOS. In 2019 the Prelude composers-in-residence are Tim Dargaville, William Gardiner, Chris McNulty, Thomas Meadowcroft and Ngaiire.
The program is a collaboration between the Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers' House, National Trust of Western Australia, National Trust of South Australia, APRA AMCOS, SA Government's Music Development Office, Helpmann Academy and Bundanon Trust.
Applications for 2020 residencies close on Monday 5 August 2019.
