Cathy Milliken and Dietmar Wiesner's radio play Bunyah has won one of this year's Prix Italia prizes. Produced by the SWR2 Radio in Germany, the play is based on Les Murray's texts. Milliken recorded some of the material, including readings by Les Murray, at the poet's hometown Bunyah on NSW Mid North Coast. Further composition and musical realisation of the play took place in Germany in collaboration with Dietmar Wiesner. Also involved in the production were dramaturg Manfred Hess and translator Margitt Lehbertthen.
The prestigious Prix Italia competition awards quality productions on TV, radio and the internet, with categories including radio drama, documentaries and music. Milliken and Wiesner's prize was awarded in the 'Music' category.
