Sinfonietta 2009 project for secondary students
Australian secondary school composition students are again invited to participate in the Sydney Symphony Sinfonietta project. This project was devised for music students who would like to compose, refine their skills or are preparing for the HSC. It provides students the opportunity to have their original compositions workshopped and performed by the Sydney Symphony Sinfonietta ensemble, and for teachers and students to observe the process. The project will be conducted by Richard Gill.
Finalists will be flown to Sydney in June 2009 for a four-day workshop culminating in the performance of the students’ works alongside a major piece of chamber music repertoire.
Entries are invited from secondary school students to submit original compositions for the Sydney Symphony Sinfonietta, including a mezzo-soprano vocalist. For more information for students and teachers, online registrations and competition guidelines, please visit the project's website. The deadline for submitting compositions is 3 April 2009.
