Soundstream launches 2012 National Young Composers Award
Soundstream: Adelaide New Music Festival has launched the 2012
National Young Composers' Award, open to Australian composers 30
years and under.
There are 2 Awards in the form of commissions, valued at $5000
and $2000, with a People's Choice Prize of $1500, sponsored by
Winston Music. All finalists' domestic airfares and accommodation
will be covered by the Soundstream: Adelaide New Music Festival,
and the Finals Performance will take place on Saturday October
13th as part of the Festival, to be performed by Soundstream
Collective.
These awards are a welcome addition to the landscape of
opportunities for composers, and with the launch of the
Soundstream Collective Ensemble in 2011 (supported by the
University of Adelaide), add further momentum to the festival and
its reach.
Applications close on Monday June 18th, 2012.
